2011 KLOOTWYK, MR. GERALD A. "JERRY" Husband of Betty Muskegon Mr. Gerald A. "Jerry" Klootwyk, age 83, passed away Friday morning, January 28, 2011. He was born February 20, 1927 in Muskegon to Jacob and Mary (Smith) Klootwyk. Mr. Klootwyk was a U.S. Army Veteran and had also served 30 years in the Reserves. He worked for Teledyne Continental Motors for 40 years before retiring in 1985.
Jerry loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed reading, walking, bowling, and dancing. On May 20, 1967 he married the former Betty M. Schaalma in Muskegon and she survives him along with 2 children, Beej (Thomas) Doran of Brighton, MI, Larry Van Klootwyk of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren, Andrea (Troy) Crowell of Muskegon, Kelly (Edson) Lee of Brazil, Justin Doran of Brighton; 5 great-grandchildren, Abigail and Zachary Cuthbertson, Skylar Crowell, Lucas and Isabella Lee; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 sisters.
A CELEBRATION OF JERRY'S LIFE will take place 11:00 AM Tuesday at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Pastor Joseph Vest officiating. Burial will be in Fruitport Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION with his family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to the American Heart Association or Olivet Reformed Church will be appreciated.
