Barbara M. Klootwyk, 79, Westville, formerly of Highland and Chicago, passed away Saturday (Sept. 26, 2009) in Michigan City.
She was born in Chicago to Jacob and Evelyn (Beyer) Brondyke, who both preceded her in death.
On Oct. 20, 1950, in Chicago, she married Marvin "Joe" Klootwyk.
She worked as a bank teller for Citizens Bank and then Horizon Bank before retiring.
She is survived by her husband; children, Bonny Klootwyk, Highland, and Roger (Susan) Klootwyk, Westville; and step-son Robert (Lydia) Abrogar, New Jersey. She is also survived by grandchildren Eric, Christine (Ryan), and Jason (Mary); great-granddaughter Allison; step-grandson, Romeo; and brother Jack Brondyke, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Newhard Funeral Home, Westville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Newhard Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Lansing, Ill.

Marvin “Joe” Klootwyk, 88, of Westville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Loyola Medical Center after a short illness.
He was born in Chicago in 1927, the son of Richard and Johanna (Tanis) Klootwyk. Joe was a Navy Veteran and served in WWII. After the war he was involved in three atomic bomb tests off the island of Eniwetok. He was a truck driver for 41 years, most of that time as an owner-operator. He married Barbara (Brondyke) on Oct. 20, 1950. She preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 2009.
Surviving are his daughter Bonny Klootwyk of Highland, and sons Robert (Lydia) Abrogar of Bloomfield, New Jersey, and Roger (Susan) Klootwyk of Westville. He is also survived by his grandchildren Eric Klootwyk, Christine Klootwyk, Jason (Brittany) Klootwyk and Romeo Abrogar, and his great-grandchildren Allison, Andrew and Audriana Klootwyk.
Joe was an avid gardener who loved to share his vegetables with others. Joe was also a faithful attendee of Liberty Bible Church.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Newhard Funeral Home, 58 W. Walnut St., Westville, Indiana, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the services.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Newhard Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Sutton officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Lansing, Illinois
